props their babies bottle? If you do, what are your reasons why you do? Is it only every once in a while? I prop my son's bottle occasionally.

Honey, I have 3 kids. Yes, I have propped my baby's bottle. I wish I were Superwoman, but I'm not.

In an ideal world, I would not ever have propped a bottle. However, working a fulltime+ job(also call after hours) with an infant and toddlers was difficult. My husband was working out of town at the time, also. I loved the feeding/bonding routine but occasionally needed to prop the bottle to take care of other urgent matters-we all know how fast toddlers can get into things! It was only for a minute or two, not the entire feeding. As long as you don't do it consistently, stop feeling guilty! I was not Superman either and I think my kids turned out darn good!

feeding the baby is good bonding time between mom and child.. or father and child.... propping the bottle can actually lead to increased risk of ear infections, as some liquid will run down side of childs face and go into the ear.... bottle propping isnt a good idea...

Bottle propping is *not* a good idea. Babies need interaction with other people, not with inanimate objects.

And "every once in a while" doesn't change the potential damage. Earthquakes only happen "every once in a while", too!

It is not a good idea. I know someone whose baby died from choking on a propped bottle. You should ALWAYS hold your baby when you are giving them a bottle!

My little girl is 10 months, and no, we never propped her bottle up, unless it was against our chin to change positions while feeding her, she would scream if you stopped feeding her.
Feedings are a really important time for bonding. And you are right, whoever said it, they are only that little for a short time. Enjoy it!!

i have the best answer for propping a babys bottle....
at Babies R Us, they have this awesome bottle!!! Its a nipple that a baby sucks out of and conected to the nipple is a tube ( not long enough for a baby to strangle themselves dont worry) and the tube runs from the nipple to the bottle!! The top of the bottle is closed and secure so it wont spill...this cost about 9 dollars...you should check it out!!!

I think that's a very lazy solution....mom's should be able to multi task in many situations. Try breastfeeding one and spoon feeding your toddler while she throws her food and talking on the phone at the same time. Think of how lonely your baby feels when you do this. He'll probably get used to it and not want you to feed him...wouldn't that hurt you?

No i never did it i see it as lazy and if you chose to have a baby you should look after it properly. They are only babies for such a short amount of time and you should enjoy every second of it!

I never proped my sons bottle I held it for him until he was old enough to hold it himself. my sister does it all the time, and I just feel that the baby bonds when its being fed.
