I thought for sure I would be pregnant this time, I timed my ovulation exactly. We had sex one week before every other day and on the day I ovulated. Does anyone have any advice? It is really sad and depressing when you try so hard just to see another negative test.

I understand how frustrating it is when you are trying to conceive, and nothing seems to happen. I think it would be beneficial for you to chat with some other ladies going through the same sort of issues. I'm going to provide you with the link to a trying to conceive forum. It's full of supportive women, with boundless knowledge about TTC. It's a great place to encourage each other, or just to vent about how long TTC is taking! I used it when I was trying to conceive, and I learnt so much there that I doubt I would have learnt otherwise.

Try every day.Dr.'s will usually only tell you every other day when there is a low sperm count or motility problem. Start everyday from when your period ends until day 18. You can lay with a pillow under your hips and raise your legs up for 30 mins after sex help the lil swimmers. Try not to go to the bathroom or walk much after either because you will be "pushing out" the sperm. Last, if you do this with tracking ovulation for a year and nothing, see you gyn.

I know all about the negative tests. After about 8 months, it finally happened. You are trying to hard for one thing. I know that sounds silly, but we bought an expensive ovulation scope and followed the chart exactly. Nothing! I was so depressed, that we just quit trying. That was in November, and in December I got pregnant.
Also, having intercourse in the morning is probably best. Maybe waiting a couple of days and then having intercourse will produce a much higher sperm count. And have him on top so that gravity is on your side.
Good luck to you!!

It sounds like you got the timing wrong! If you did accurately determine when you ovulated, you needed to have sex during the 3-5 days *before* ovulation. The day of ovulation is usually too late (the egg only lives for 12 hours--by the time the sperm arrive, the egg has died), and a week before is too early.

Know that you only have a 25% of conceiving each month. Everything may feel "perfect" but you are still dealing with low chances each month.

Generally it can take the average couple about 6 to 8 months to conceive.

Try reading Taking Charge of Your Fertiltiy. It's a great book and it will help you understand the signs your body gives off when you are most fertile. Plus it gives great pointers!

My daughter did the same thing. Bought the ovulation kits, temperature taking, had sex all the time. After a year of trying, they said to heck with it and planned to adopt. Two months later she got pregnant. You have to relax and stop trying so hard.
