Nothing wrong with being friends first. You could find out what he likes and suggest it as a chance to spend time together.
There's three stages to a friendship:
1. Friend-of-friend or Friend-of-Group: you don't see the other person except in the company of others, but you talk whenever you're together.
2. New friend: you make it a point to seek him out (or vice versa).
3. Infatutory - the attention is returned and you enjoy spending time with each other as you figure out where you want this to go.

Just be yourself. If you try to act like a different person to get this guy then you'll regret it later on in the relationship, because you will have to permanently change who you are to keep him. If he likes you for you then maybe something will happen, but if not be content with being friends. Also, if you feel this strongly about him, keep it real and let him know because he may feel the same way but don't know "how to get that girl to notice him"!!!

look cute when you go to see him and flirt with him let you know you like him by flirting with him so he can know. play with him like tell your friend or a friend that's a girl to tell him you like him while your around and then say that's not true she made it up then he'll know your lying and he'll for sure know that you like him
