I cut down some holly bushes in my yard and I am unable to dig them up because the root system is so complex. (They were quite old!) Now I have stumps sticking up out of the ground. Any way I can kill them without hiring a stump grinder?

Cover the whole yard under 2 foot of concrete and wait one year and then get rid of all the concrete and replant grass in the yard !!! Wallllaaa-no more stumps. But seriously,a stump grinder and his equipement don't cost that much.

drill holes in them and pour chemicals into the holes. (available at the hardware store) the stumps will rot out in a year or so.

You have to have it grind out, or you could try stump remover, you can buy it at a nursery. If its really big, don't try to remove it your self, it will be to hard to do.

yes you can pile wood up around them and burn them,if you get the fire going good enough it will burn until roots and all are gone!if you live in the city youll probablt have to get a burning permit, but they usually only cost 5 dollars or so!
