Answers 1 & 4 will delete the rudimentary display of your history and your 'autocomplete' websites in the dropdown.
However, Sam F (answer 3) is the most correct. These steps does not fully delete the history. There are hidden folders and files that will still retain parts of this history that you cannot delete will you are logged onto your system with the account that has done the browsing.
I would expect that for the purposes of this answer that the steps in 1 & 3 will suffice. If you REALLY want to delete all traces of browsing history, then you'll need to learn more about profiles and index files.

Actually, the first answer is correct. The full text from Microsoft is:
To delete Autocomplete entries from the Address bar list
The AutoComplete feature saves previous entries you've made for Web addresses, forms, and passwords. To delete entries from the Address bar, you must clear your History folder. You cannot clear individual entries from the list of saved entries.
On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
Click the General tab.
Under History, click Clear History.
When typing information in Web forms, and typing passwords, you can remove an item from the list of suggestions by clicking the item and then pressing the DELETE key.

Once again this WILL NOT DELETE ALL OF THE HISTORY!!! Computer 101 for dummies! I guess I'm sick of all the people who try to help who should be in another category!!!
Learn how to view hidden files, learn where your account is located at, then learn what is stored about every website you have viewed and every image you have viewed...then do what needs to be done!
