It's stupidity. Wait until they're at least 12.

I pierced my daughter's ears at 1 year old.. I thought it was going to be a lot worse, but it's just like them having a shot.. It only hurts for a second... My daughter's doctor did it, so if that makes you feel more comfortable, go that route -- as for them pulling on it, they really don't even notice them after the first day or so. My 2 year old loves her earings now, and she loves to see them in the mirror.. I think it's very cute, and I'm glad she will not remember the experience, because she may have been traumatized by it had she made the choice herself... I hated getting my second holes pierced, I didn't want her to remember having hers done..

I got my first ear piercing when I was a baby, then my second ones when I was 10. I always thought it was cool and that I would do the same with my lil girl, when I had one. But then my sister did it to her two girls when they were both about 1 yr old. Its around that time I decided I didn't want my baby to go through that pain for no reason. I've decided to wait until they are much older. It's not important to have your ears pierced anyway. PS both my nieces don't have their ears pierced anymore. As a couple months passed they eventually fell off and they didn't want anyone to put them back on.

I had mine done when i was months or weeks old. No biggie. When you're little, your skin is more tender so it doesn't hurt as much. My mom said I was asleep when they did it and I didn't even cry! It wasn't even a special gun like they use at the ear piercing places, it was a regular needle. Why do you think boys get circumcized when they're born? Tender skin, won't hurt as much and since you're too small to know what the heck's going on you don't care. How many men would do it now?!?!
Personally, I kinda think twice about making another piercing in my ears...

I also don't like the idea of punching a whole in a baby's ear for a purely cosmetic reason. The baby has no idea what's going on- she only knows it's scary and it hurts. And what if the baby tugs on the ear later? Ouch! I think it's best to wait until the kid can decide that she really wants pierced ears- that way she'll understand the process and be able to take care of her own ears. Besides, when the kid's older, it has to be less painful for them!

I personally think you should wait until the baby gets older. Then she can make her own decision whether she wants it done or not. I agree with you. If she does pull on her ear she can hurt herself. So the best thing to do is wait until she's older. One of my friends had her's done when she was a baby. and she said that when her ears grew the hole grew with it and the earrings wouldn't fit they just fell out of the hole. so she had to get it done a few times. but that may not happen to everybody, but still. you should still wait.

well i think its fine. i got my ears pierced when i was about 9 months old and nothing bad happened to me. i dont remember anything, but my mom told me i didnt cry or scream...it wasnt even painful for me. when i was 12 i got my ears double pierced and it hurt so bad! im glad that i got my first holes done so early that i didnt even feel it. also, when i was a baby, i didnt pull on my earrings like you said. babies wear little studs, not hoops, so it doesnt even matter if they pull on them because they cant rip them out of their ears. so i say, why not pierce baby girls ears? there is nothing wrong with it.

My parents pierced my ears on my 1st birthday. I cant remember it but there were no problems at all. I still have my first ear piercing and i love it! I think its just sooo cute. A lot of parents pierce their baby girls ears around their first birthday and have had no bad experiences.

I got my ears peirced 2 weeks after i was born, my mom just made sure my ears weren't red and she put in the little diamond earings in, people say they require less pain, if she's a baby she can't rub her ears, if she's a toddler watch her very often and closely

I had mine done at 9 mths. I'm glad my mom had it done when I was small, b/c i don't remember the pain. It is perfectly fine for baby girls to get it done, maybe not b4 6 mths. though, and they should only wear studs. What I don't like is little boys getting it done, that is ridiculous!

My mom didn't let me get my ears pierced until I was around 16. That might be a little late for some of ya'll but it was when I was ready. Poor babies.
