Interesting question. Here are my thougths both religious and non-religions.

Religious is simple, most religions encourage, not taking a casual approch and want participants to wait until after making a life long commitment. While this is usually stated in negitive terms that if you don't your doing something bad or sinfull their is some logic to it.
Consider this:
1. If you wait until marriage you would have fewer single parent families. That is no knock on single parents you just have a better chance if you have two possible people to help raise the family.
2. If you only know (in the physical term) one partner, you have much less to compare too and have less of a chance of getting board due to comparison to some other experiece.
3. If you don't start until your married then you will have less of a chance of getting board over time due to having done all that already with other partners. That way you can grow together taking on new experiences together.

From a non-religious stand point.
Many of the same arguments above still apply just without the religious threat of damnation. But on the other side of the coin how are we to know what we like and don't like if we don't try things out prior to choosing who we are going to spend the rest of our lives with. Also both men and women have physical desires (lust) that can often get in the way when it is all you can think of because those feelings have not been satisfied. So I guess in a way you can make the wrong choice for a spouse if the main think your looking for is just someone who turns you on... If those feelings were satisfide on a regular basis in some way you could concentrate on trying to find someone you truly get along with and then the sex becomes a bonus.

Either way the main worry I have is educating the young without giving them the correct understanding of what it all means. If adults choose to take risks with their bodies, fully understanding the consequences that's fine but kids most of the time don't have all the information or life experience to make a smart decision. Nothing worse that kids getting STDs or kids having kids... either way the rest of your life is very tough over a few moments of pleasure.

I don't know I guess I don't really have any good answer just discussion on the topic.

As for what I can see, my generation is heading in this way also, and it seems a bit late for today's infants. There's no big change of mentalities that's going to occur in five minutes, it's that's what you wanted to know.

I'm guessing you live in the United States, right? If you consider your country having a casual view on sex, wow! I guess the people in my province are all sex addicts. Sex is a pretty relax topic here.

If it's unhealthy, or healthy? I would not know. Does it harm anyone? It just makes children grow up too quickly, which is not necessarily a good thing.

So I think you're the judge of that.

It's degrading, shows a total lack of dignity and a lack of respect for yourself and others. Not to mention the bad example it sets for kids.

This refers to "safe sex." If by casual, you mean unsafe sex, that's completely intolerable as it also spreads disease and likely brings an unwanted child into the world.

It must not be that bad, we aren't bredding that fast. Look at India and China, they have 1/3 of the world's population, they make us look bad in that matter! No offense intended at all.
