I HAVE TAKEN THE BAFFLE OUT OF THE EXAUST AND THE SNORKLE OFF THE TOP OF THE AIR FILTER BOX. THE ENGINE NOW IS GETTING A TON OF AIR. DO I NEED TO RE JET THE CARBORATER, OR CAN I USE A HIGH PERFORMANCE AIR FILTER LIKE "UNI" OR "TWIN AIR". ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

I have a 230 that I just did this to myself. It does need to be rejetted, no biggie. If you dont, you'll notice flat spots. Just changing the air filter wont do it. By the way...... mine's never run better!

Try browsing the forums at thumpertalk.com. There is a section dedicated to your bike with a wealth of knowledge. You should rejet any time you increase airflow through the engine since this will cause an even leaner condition than what you started with.
You don't really need to buy a jet kit for $70 or so when you can buy jets for about$5 each. You probably only need to get 2 pilot jets and 2 main jets richer than what you have now and experiment. Again, detailed info at thumpertalk.com.

Using a high performance air filter will only add to your problem of too much air. You really should rejet the carb. Running the motor too lean will cause damage to your piston and or rings. FMF and Dyno Jet makes a jet kit for your bike. They work well. You can find it on www.denniskirk.com
