Here are some ideas to help get rid of the fear:

Pretend you're buying them for someone else
Buy something else too while you're there and focus on that
Ask your mom to buy them til you're more comfortable
Go to the pharmacy to pay for them - the line is usually shorter, the pharmacist sells private stuff all the time, and they usually have paper bags instead of plastic (so nobody can see through the bag and know you bought tampons)

Don't worry - eventually you'll get used to buying them and it'll be fine.

PS - I used to be a cashier and people would buy tampons, pads, feminine care products, condoms, whatever and I never cared what they bought and neither did the other people in line. I was more worried about when I'd be finished with work, and the people in line were thinking about what where they were going next and trying to remember if they got everything they needed.

well.. it's not mean, it's simply what you have to do sweetiepie, sorry.. you COULD have people do that for you now but thats not gonna do you any good because you're not gonna be a child forever and you'll have to start doing things on your own so why not start now.. Besides, EVERY girl has menses and tampons are funny to buy, you have all those fancy colors and shapes..

And by the way.. you need to stop posting the same question over and over because nobody answers.. there must be a reason why nobody does huh? i dont think it's too "polite" of you to yell eirther JUST because all the other hundreds and hundreds of people on yahoo don't answer YOUR questions.. just some thoughts on netiquette..

TO make it LESS embrarassing you just have to stort thinking that there's nothing embarassing in it, i mean, we're not talking about buying a vibrator here, it's just tampons, all women between 12 and 60 give it or take buy them..

So sorry people treated u like that when they do that report them because this site is for asking questions and giving good advice.I asked some question and asked them to be nice and one lady was all like are you 10 or something get a life no i'm not 10!i'm a teen. But anyways to your question I hate buying padsto I get my mom to buy them for me,but if I have to buy them I got to a checkout where a girl is and I buy more then just those and make conversion with the person like how was your day,it sems busy in here today or something like that,I do that when i'm nervous about buying stuff.Try it,it works for me,good luck!or go with a friend!much easier!

I was always embarassed to buy tampons... What I've learnt is that if you are open about it and look like you don't care, others won't care either. Go into a store, take some and act like it's nothing... Don't be afraid to flaunt it around!

That is a natural feeling, but you do have to overcome it as the menstruation cycle of a girl is natural as well and everyone knows about. What I use to do is act like they were not for me and that I was simply the messenger and getting them for a friend of mine.... If you act like it is no big deal, then you will start noticing that it will also be no big deal for everyone else. . . . Remember, practice, so like that you overcome that fear and feeling of embarrassment.

best thing to do is just walk in and buy them you do need the right size and trust me when I say it nobody will even think twice about what your buying .I used to buy them for my older sister when I was younger and she had the same fear.your maturing and there is no need to fear it.
