I approve of a ban on George W. Bush. This guy was a waste of a sperm and egg. Shame on Barbera and George Sr.

I don't approve President Bush's support against same-sex marriages. His religion is interfering with government and politics. I am straight, and I used to be against homosexuality, being brought up as a Christian and whatnot, but I've met several people who are homosexual, and I've learned about different kinds of ideas, that my views on how "homosexuality=evil" changed tremendously. People against homosexuality need to open their minds a bit more. What if their own child was gay? People can't live their lives supporting the ban of gay marriages because it's what they've been raised to believe in. People need to see from the POV's of other people and open up to new ideas everyday, not stick to one idea. This way, they'll have the freedom and the knowledge to decide what they believe in. These people, in turn, shouldn't be criticized for their beliefs. But anyways, back to the topic. Isn't this a nation of the people, for the people, and by the people? In our world today, especially in this country, where so many people are confessing their sexuality, Bush should at least be a bit more open with the idea of same-sex marriage and less biased because of his religion. One man's religion shouldn't affect an entire nation. Maybe if he did support gay marriage, our nation would set a new precedent for old-world, traditional governments of other nations.

This isn't President Bush's ban on same sex marriages, it isn't President Bush's war, why do ask the question in this manner? Someone in the house or senate sponsored a bill for a constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriages, President Bush said he would support the bill, keep it straight please. Yes, I do agree with the piece of legislation. It's not on same sex, I don't care if a persons partner is a fence post, but marriage is between a man and woman. If they want to call it a civil union, fine, just leave marriage alone please. Thanks.

You are entitled to your opinion.
Here's mine: I'm damn tired of this President and the Republican Congress sticking their noses in private lives.
The Terry Schivo case was probably the most sickening display of infringement to private lives.
The GOP used to be about NO government intrusion in our bedroom, hospital room or any private room.
Now, they seem to want nothing short of total control over our lives.
Am I pro-homosexual?
No.
Yet, people who choose to live together should enjoy some benefits and a civil union (see link) would be an agreeable compromise.
Lastly, this is a hot button issue (like abortion or flag-burning) and a great diversion from real issues.
The President is bringing red meat to the table in order to appease the far right.
And don't we have more important issues to deal with?
Health care.
War in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Oil prices.
Should I continue or do you get the point?

I think it is wrong to ban it. I am straight but one of my best and closest friends is gay. I was pretty closed to the idea myself, but once I met my friend and we became close, I just relized I was being immature. There is no reason to ban it, the government doesn't have the right, and no one does. You can live your life how ever you want, and shouldn't be obstructed by politics or especailly religion (both ignorant and wrong themselves), this world is ridiculous.
