That is an awesome question.

I don't know for sure, but according to a question a GI doctor asked me, I believe that is a symptom of acid reflux.

The baby may be having a reaction to something that you have eaten, and the acid in the stomach is backing up into the baby's throat.

Consider cutting out certain foods so you can test and see if that makes a difference.

I cut out dairy products, and it did help.

when u eat u take in air and because everything u eat goes to the baby it could give the baby hiccups but thats just my oppinion

Don't know how it happens, but both my kids had hiccups when I was pregnant with them.

Hiccups/hiccoughs are spasms of the diaphragm and have nothing to do with air.

hiccups actually help your baby strengthen its diaphram so it is easier for your little one to breath when he is born. They don't have much to do with air.

You don't need air to breathe. The fetus breathes the amnionic fluid.
