why is it that throughout american history black people have created the pop culture (music, style, fashion, lingo dance...etc..) in our society and were hated and banned at first for their creativity but when white people finally find out, they exploit it and try to copy and market it?

since the days of elvis (who, by the way stole his singing and dancing styles from poor, old black blues singers who created it and never got paid or respect)...and now elvis is considered the king of rock & roll.

now it's a hip hop world.

back in the 70's when hip hop started, white people were saying "turn off that disco". or that "ni**er" music...just like back in the 50's

now you get little white kids dressing, walking, dancing, and talking like so called "ni**ers.

....some even calling themselves "ni**a" but not knowing one single black person.....lol

by the way...im not racist...i just think it's interesting.

to xm wow

being a gay man and..to top it off...a journalist, you should be ashamed of yourself with that childish comment.....lol

if you are really a journalist then i feel sorry for the future of journalism.

my point was not about who's copying who (we are not in the 4th grade here)
but about the hatred at first then the exploitation.

Geeeez..... get over it. It's all about $$$ and marketing. Elvis was more marketable than a black entertainer at that time. Entertainment is all about $$$. Remember when that little Ricky martin fad hit? Everyone and their mom was trying to get a piece or the action because it was marketable at the time. That's how hip hop is now. It's not a race issue.... it's $$$. Hip hop could be Chinese and it wouldn't matter.

I did not know it was a Hip Hop world, and I do not think that black people alone have defined or created our culture.
