What did the country look like before he became President? High unemployment, high interest rates, high unemployment and failed foreign policy. Reagan was a man of action and took those issues head on, to positive result.

He made it socially acceptable to hate poor people, and to persecute them in the name of Social Darwinism. Because of him, there are no more social programs being proposed to replace the poorly-thought-out ones created in the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.

He gave pay raises to our service men and woman, he modernized military bases, his economic policies triggered the greatest economic expansion in our history, he granted amnesty to 2 million illeagle aliens, he saved Harley Davidson Motorcycles keeping the only motorcycle maker in this country in business. ect.......I could go on but I really must work.

He gave citizens hope.
I genuinely am against about every political idea he advanced. But our country needed his "folksy" attitude after lurching about post-Watergate, energy crisis, the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash, etc. Just kidding about the last.
