Before someone gripes like last time--I'll inform you all that I am teaching myself spanish, so that is why I am asking questions--not because I didn't pay attention in class.

Here is what I need help with. When you are talking to an adult AND a child, would you use Ud., Uds., or the ellos form of the verb?

Next question, When you want to ask Isabel and Enrique if they are from Venezuela would you ask: Son de Venezuela? Or, Sois de Venezuela? Or are both correct? I know that the vosotros form is more common in Spain than other spanish speaking areas.

for the first question: first of all Uds and ellos have the same form of the verb so they are the same. that is the one you use.

for the second question: both are correct. only use VOSOTROS when it is INFORMAL. if you use son you will be correct where if you use sois you should probably be in spain and have a friendly status(if they are children it counts as an informal status).

Good Luck!

Ud. uds. is a form of respect for adults only. Isabel and Enrique son de Venezuela. Sois is in Spain used. In Argentina You use sos.
Do you want coffee? Ud. quiere café? if you're an adult.
Do you want to drink milk? Tú quieres leche? If you're a child.
They are from Venezuela, Son de Venezuela.
Ud., uds., Tú is you. isn't the verb. son, are, is.

I would not talk with an adult and child on equal terms. I would focus my attention on the adult by addressing him/her with "Ud." To be grammatically correct, I would address more than one person with "Uds." in Spain (formally) and in Latin America. "Ud." is only used to address one person (an adult or a stranger). Ellos is used to refer to an outside group of people (all male or mixed sex). In other words, "ellos" means "they".

If you are in Spain, use sois form. If not, use son form.

If you are speaking to both of them at the same time you would use UDS. If you are talking to the adult alone you would us UD. If you are talking to the child alone you would use TU. UDS & UD are the formal way.

Ustedes son de Venezuela?
