Honestly...that could be a million things, and with that truck and year, it could be even more. Take your truck to get a test run on it and pull some codes. You could also check out some of the truck forums. I know there is a Chevy Truck forum out there somewhere that I used to check with for a 98 Tahoe.

Those trucks are such POS's.

My 2003 Surburban did pretty much the same thing and I ended up having to get the exhaust manifold gasket changed. Cost me around $350 from the dealership. Might be your problem.

could be a throttle positioning sensor
