The song is Happy Together by the Turtles which was used for the film Shrek. It was from the album of the same name. The song was originally written by Garry Bonner and Alan Gordon. The album reached #25 on the pop charts in 1967 while the single was a #1 smash. In all, the Happy Together album contained 4 top 20 hits including #3 hit "She'd Rather Be With Me" and two top 20 hits in "She's My Girl" and "You Know What I Mean". If you like late 1960's pop, the album is well worth a listen.
In 1999, Broadcast Music Incorporated named "Happy Together," with approximately 5 million performances, the 44th-most performed song of the 20th century. It has been performed by a diverse range of artists including Frank Zappa, Donny Osmond and Weezer. A Simple Plan covered it in the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday.

Happy Together, and it isn't in Shrek. I know because I sing the entire Shrek soundtrack in the shower, and that is not a song I know the words to. It is a good song, though.
