Thrush is caused by an overgrowth of yeast, usually caused by antibiotic therapy. If the baby is breastfeeding, this can be passed to mom's nipples. Acidophilus is great for treating yeast, but you should consult with the baby's pediatrician about treatment and ask them what you need to do to treat yourself if you're breastfeeding. Otherwise, you'll pass it right back to baby.

What Causes Thrush?
Small amounts of the candida fungus are present in the mouth, digestive tract, and skin of most healthy people and are normally kept in check by other bacteria and microorganisms in the body. However, certain illnesses, stress, or medications can disturb the delicate balance, causing the fungus Candida to grow out of control, causing infection.
Thrush can affect anyone, though it occurs most often in babies and toddlers, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Examples of medications that upset the balance of microorganisms in the mouth include corticosteroids, antibiotics, and birth control pills. Illnesses or medical situations that make candida infection more likely to develop include uncontrolled diabetes, HIV infection, cancer, dry mouth, or pregnancy (caused by the hormonal changes that occur with pregnancy). People who smoke or wear dentures that don't fit properly also are at increased risk for thrush. In addition, babies can pass the infection to their mothers during breast-feeding.
While healthy children and adults can be effectively treated, the symptoms may be more severe and difficult to manage in those with weakened immune systems.Antifungal medications, which are generally taken for 10 to 14 days, are often prescribed to treat thrush. These medicines are available in tablets, lozenges, or liquids that are usually "swished" around in your mouth before being swallowed. Your dentist will have a specific treatment approach designed for you based on your age and the cause of the infection. Because the presence of Candida infection can be a symptom of other medical problems, your dentist may suggest you seek care from a medical doctor as well so that any underlying health problems you have can be treated.

When the mother has been infected by Candida Albicans. If you are still nursing I recommend that you regulate your sugar intake&use HEALTHY TRINITY FROM NATREN. I also recommend that you don't do any cleanses until you are not nursing because some cleanses may contain herbs which have Berberine like Goldenseal and Oregon Grape root Berberine is a natural anti- biotic and before you do any cleanse check to see if whether or not Nursing mothers can use them. The main thing I would do is EFA's(Essential fatty Acids) Omega 3-6-9 or plain Omega 3 from Nordic naturals is recommended.

Just go to www.google.com or www.yahoo.com
go to search and type "thrush in babies"
You will get many links with the answer you desire..
but in case your to lazy to search here u go:
Oral thrush is an infection caused by a yeast fungus (Candida albicans). Sometimes this infection is brought on after antibiotic use, as this changes the environment of the mouth, making it easy for overgrowth of yeast to occur. In addition, if a nursing mother is experiencing a yeast infection, thrush can be passed on to her baby. In this case, both mother and child should be treated simultaneously.
Symptoms of thrush for babies include white or yellowish raised spots on the sides of the mouth and on the tongue. Initially, these spots are painless, but they can quickly become irritated and lead to sore throat and mouth pain. It can also spread to the diaper area, causing redness and soreness. Your baby may also cry or seem irritated during feedings.
In nursing mothers, symptoms can include vaginal yeast infection, red sore nipples and a burning sensation in the nipples or breast after breastfeeding.
Thrush is usually diagnosed by sight, and most practitioners can even make a diagnosis over the phone based on your accurate description of symptoms.

Occassionally a specimen taken from a tongue scraping may be necessary to rule out other illnesses if symptoms unrelated to thrush are present.
Treatment usually includes application of an antifungal like Nystatin applied several times daily to the inside of the mouth. Diflucan is also an effective treatment which may be prescribed by your physician and should be given as directed. If the diaper area is affected, Nystatin or Lotrimin (which is available without a prescription) work well here, too. Care should be taken to avoid wipes that may contain high amounts of alcohol which can perpetuate the conditions necessary for the growth of yeast.
If you are breastfeeding, it is important that any yeast infection be treated and special attention should be given to cleaning the nipples after each feeding. You can apply Nystatin or other specially-formulated creams, or you can apply gentian violet1 to your nipples 2-3 times daily. In addition, you may want to talk to a lactation consultant or La Leche League leader about making changes to your diet in order to return your body to a state where yeast overgrowth is prohibited. This often includes the addition of yogurt, buttermilk and acidophilus and the avoidance of sugars wherever possible.
To help treatment speed along and to prevent reinfection, it is also important that you clean all cups, bottles, nipples, pacifiers and other objects that your child has placed in his or her mouth on a daily basis for at least two weeks during treatment and until symptoms have disappeared. You can boil, bleach or just use the regular cycle on your dishwasher if the temperature of your hot water is above 125 degrees Fahrenheit.
If symptoms persist for more than a week without improvement, become worse, or if you or your child are experiencing continued pain even after a week of treatment, contact your health care provider immediately.

Thrush can also be very painful & uncomfortable for baby so you need to take him/her to their pediatrician right away! Get baby treated very soon and ask the doctor how to properly prevent spreading back and forth from you to baby because each circumstance is different.

Diabetes is usually treated through a combination of diet (low sugar), exercise and medications/insulin. Milder cases can be controlled with just diet an/or exercise while more severe cases require meds or insulin as well.
