I am considering pursuing a college degree. What (in your opinion) is the best area to study based on current job demands. Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Business Management, etc.

You should probably study whatever interests you. There's no point in pursuing a field if you'll hate going to work. Besides, when you are done the "in demand" field will change.

Business, Engineering, Medical...any field is a great choice, it just depends on what you will enjoy doing. Most of the things you said will have many different career options within each major.

I would say the most in demand would be business management.If you are very independent pick that or Mechanical if you are useful with your hands or if you are neither software.

Get into Pharmacy or Nursing. Graduates in these fields write their own employment ticket, regardless to where they live and who they want to work for. Good luck!

I see in my area that secretaries, nursing, electrician, carpenter, welder, mason(brick layer), or private babysitters. They are the most popular in the STATE OF NY.
