Feh. I go to a private college and nobody cares what I wear...in fact, there's a group on facebook called "Do you model? Oh, wait, you're an idiot who dressed up to go to lecture." I've even had friends who went to class in whatever they rolled out of bed in. Get some hooded sweatshirts (and sweatshirts with your school's name on it, if you so desire), sweatpants, and a few pairs of jeans. The aforementioned sweats would also help if you plan on going to the gym or otherwise working out.
However, while day wear is usually simple and comfortable, I would advise bringing some nice clothes. I would bring clothes that you can go to a job interview in, or some kind of formal event (I have a knee-length prom-ish dress that I wore to a fraternity ball), or even out clubbing. Just bring a few of every kind of clothing, and make sure that you have enough clothes to last you at least two weeks without having to do laundry. If you live nearby, this doesn't apply as much, since you could probably just go home to do laundry (and possibly leave some stuff there), but it sounds like you're travelling, so bring a semi-full closet.
Also, a good pair of boots, mittens, a scarf, and a hat would be advisable for trekking across campus in the winter.
Oh, and remember to bring socks. I know this sounds silly, but when you're first moving in it's all warm because it's still summer, and you can sometimes forget them. You'll regret that later when it starts getting colder and you realize you've forgotten them at home.
Above all, though, go shopping with your parents before you go to school. That way, you have the benefit of using their wallet instead of your own.
Good luck, and have fun!

Honestly, it depends on your college. If it is a private school you may feel the need to dress up a little more if you want to fit in. You'll also want to do that if you plan on pledging a sorority. Of course, if you are totally comfortable with who you are and don't care about trying to fit in (which I hope is the case), then your style sounds great. Take plenty of jeans and some really comfortable sweats! You don't need to take too many t-shirts because just about every organization there will probably be selling them. Same with sweatshirts. If you're in a dorm take a few pairs of cute and comfortable PJ's so it's easier to visit other rooms late at night :) Have a few good "going out" outfits for whatever you enjoy - whether it is clubbing, country dancing, art galleries, or whatever. And I would take just one nice dress in case you ever need it for a date or function.

College students don'treally dress up much. You can probably bring something more formal just in case you're pledging or something like that. But I have seen people go to classes in pajamas.
Really, it's not like in the 1930s when everyone wore formal clothes to class. If anything, college is more laid back and less uptight about clothing styles than high school. The high school drama crap is over..
..unless you are in Long Island, NY. But in Indiana you should be perfectly fine with whatever you've got.

why are you attempting to alter your variety? for faculty quite! purely be your self in college, its unlike hs the place you will desire to aim to "slot in" purely save your cloth cabinet and purchase some new outfits that throughout the time of high quality condition you, no longer your college
