No...Black History month isnt a month of worshiping black people. Nore is it a month of havning blacks treated like royal kings and queens. It is a month of remembering (from the past) all the blacks (african americans) that suffered through verious events that happened in our country. They had to go through a lot, and a lot of pain. Now, im not insulting you or black people, so dont get all crazy and stand up and curse my avatar. I respect what african americans had to go through, espesially after watching that Missisipi Burning movie. anyways, this reminded me of just a few weeks ago, this black girl in my history class was complaining how she was mad that black history month is in Feb, which is the shortest month of the year. That just pissed me off. She is basicly saying that she wants to be treated like a king. and blacks are above everyone. And she wen on saying how whites think there better than everyone. and thats not true. i dont think im better than any black person. the reason whites dont have a history month is because they didnt really go through a age where they suffered. You know what im trying to say. We are all equal. and im just stating my opinion.

Also, its not manditory, if people dont want to celebrate it, you dont have to. but its there for people that want to.

I sort of really agree with you. I am not black so I do not want to sound bad or whatever. I guess it is just to show awareness to what was wrong in the past and the progressions that were made. I do think that it is really taken a little far--there are now colleges just for blacks, TV channels aimed specifically for the black population, pageants for them etc...
However, I do not see only white colleges or Caucasian American months...So that is a little racist in a way.
I guess All Americans are suppose to be generous to the Black population for what our sick forefathers did to them, and we will never live that down, even if we had nothing to do with it. It is OK to have days set aside for remembrance but some of that other stuff does take it too far. Is there a special day for Jews? Just curious. They were treated badly too--In WW2.

I kind of think it's sad that there is a month "set aside" for this. It shouldn't have to be like that. The events, inventions, inspiration etc. of a whole culture segregated when it should all just be WORLD history, or American history, if that's what you're looking for.
The way it is now, it feels like they are just throwing a bone to shut certain members of society up....that's not right.
But don't forget the struggle and effort of thousands of Blacks to even get THAT much concession.
Peace.

hi my beautiful people,

first of all whether you are black or white powers to you that you observe black history everyday.black history as the word suggests is the epitomy of who we are black people today it the past from which we came the influential background that has aide in the development of our race and people. yes we may be proud of our race and we live positive in our lives each day but the mere necessities and luxurious ammenities we enjoy today were not so free and accessible a few years ago .just like we put aside christmas to celebrate the birth of christ ,child`s month to celebrate children ,mother`s and father`s day to pay extra special homeage to them on this day , so it is that in this month we pay special attention to the our race and culture yes we embrace our race everyday but alot of us neglect the oppurtunities that we are alotted today and black history month takes us back to an era of which most of us know nothing about , it teaches us for those who are willing to learn. for those of us who consider it an encouragement it empowers us to be the best at what we can be. we have our lives to live daily which consumes most of our time we hardly have the time to stop and reflect on the people around us needless to say the people gone before us that aided our way and paved the road for our freedom today, black history month is just a time for us to celebrate the gift of our culture our race and a very special time for us to stop and pay homeage to our roots and truly without reservations embrace fully the gift of who we are and what we stand for..so really to say that black history month is stupid no it`s not to say it is insulting hell no let us be bold and accept life the way god has granted it to us and try to make the best of it , it really should give you a feeling of pride and joy to know that you are apart of such wonderful and influential peole of our times if you wanted to say that to only have one month as black history is insulting and stupid then i`d agree because there is too much about this culture that is not known and not time enough to express it. hope you enjoy your answer

nicely mentioned "lilithmoon!" i ask your self why are there a great number of White Racist Hate communities that are on checklist for committing most of the main grotesque/ violent crimes against humanity? i think of that an excellent style of the circumstances which you suggested on your question's additonal techniques, got here approximately as a reaction by technique of Minorities that have been brazenly excluded from valid participation, and unjustly mistreated through White Racism. The phenomenon of White Racism has been studied for years because it is been desperate to be indicative of the White race tremendously, and that i'm no longer asserting this as a fashion of inflicting harm, yet dissemination of fact, and it relatively is a tragic fact! Racism is a comparatively unnecesary evil that postulates one race of people's superiorty over yet another's merely through their racial make-up, which has been scientifically desperate to be fake! there is merely one race, the human race! while are we going to wake-up and renowned the actual brotherhood of guy as shown by technique of the technology of DNA? Or are we going to proceed to purchase a bounch of racist bullshit that quickly makes us experience extra effective on the unjust fee of others soley through race and ethnicity? It has no place in American society, and could be explanation why u . s . of america will in no way upward push to the actual point of prominence defined by technique of the Patriarchs interior the announcement of Independence! All races have killed, disparaged, dehumanized, and stigmatized contributors of it is own besides as different races. we could quit the craziness, and comprehend that one and all anybody is considerable, and should not be excluded. because of the fact of this Consevativism is so risky, because it could easliy develope into extremely-conservativism which has given beginning to racist businesses like: The Skinheads, ok.ok.ok., Neo-Nazi's, national Alliance, suggestions of Conservative electorate, etc.. quit the insanity!

I agree completely. All history is tied together and should be taught as such, no matter what the skin color of the people involved.
