Mandy O, hard question to answer my favorite chef is:

Anthony Bourdain

There are many others who have made a name for themselves on the national and worldwide level:

Emeril
Famous Amos
Dr Pepper
The Insurance Lizard
Bart Simpson
Katie Couric
Cher
Joan Rivers

Just a handful of the chefs who have made it big, but locally there are a few here in the Phoenix, AZ area:

Christopher Gross
Razz (best in town, try the duck cakes)
Eddie
Tommy Mancuso
Lots of great restaurants in this area
I almost forgot Franco at Franco's Trattoria (nice guy) his pastry chef is the former governor of Arizona Fife Symington.

I am sure that everyone in the country/world has their favorite chef so don't let the TV ratings influence your choice, that is why I gave you the ones above with Emeril, for television does not make a good chef, I like Tony Bourdain because of his show and his humor I have never had his cooking, have you ever had Emeril cook you a meal????

I think anyone can correctly answer this question because it's not a fact who the best chef is, but opinion. You can try to look at a group of good chefs (opinion!) and see what YOU think is the best.
