I've had my 360 for a few months now and have had now problems with overheating (as some people have had in the past).
However, my system (as with all of them) does sit up off the ground with good air circulation all around it. This not only helps prevent over heating, but reduces the risk of static shock and helps keep the performance up.

The x clamps might desire to proceed to exist. removing them makes the heatsink circulate up and faraway from the GPU and CPU which reasons the overheating. you're able to no longer have unfolded the device on account which you needless to say haven't any concept what you're doing. XBOX 360s are loud, that's no longer a reason to void the guaranty and in all likelihood completely injury it.

They fixed the problem a while back. It won't overheat, unless you throw a blanket over the unit and the power source while it's 87 degrees inside and play for 4 hours.
