the most important thing to confirm its your babies heart beat and not yours is the rate, yours will be loud strong and beat at between 60-80 beats a minute at rest and your babies will beat at approx 140-180 per minute

The baby moves, so it usually won't be easy to find. I found that I could find the heartbeat when I was in bed and at rest, and the baby was calm, too.
