because at one stage two thirds of the known world was under our dominion and we also saved the world from the nazis so winning a little old football tournament should be a doddle

I have to live in England with it's morons and their stupid 'scally' flags. Newsflash.........England are not going to win the World Cup, just as they haven't for 40 years!!!!! And did you ever wonder why the rest of the world hate the english? That arrogant attitude - they are just laughed at. Go back to your council estate (and tear down your flags as soon as England get knocked out which won't be long.......)

You must be pretty archiac and/or probably still living in colonial English days. 1)England is not the greatest country the world has ever seen. It used to be great when it was colonizing the whole world but it was still not the greatest then.

2) England cannot possibly win the world cup. There are far better football-playing nations with a greater squad.

PS littlebethan, Nigeria is not in the world cup.

Obviously everyone has their own views but i think you really need to look at the other teams their players, formations and tactics as these are what makes or breaks a team so really its hard to say untill u know fully about the competition.

In my opinion i think it will be either Brazil, France or Germany england have made some basic errors for example bringing aaron lennon in my opinion was a bad decision and i know there are people who think differently and all condonenses to them but in my opinion we are not playiong the best team i think we should have brought Kevin Davis From Balton Wanderers instead of crouch and played Kevin Nolan On the right wing for some more stability. But in the end it all comes down to the performance on the night and whether or not people get injured. It would be good for england to win the world cup finally after 40 years of failed attempts but we will all just haveto see.

What evidence do you have to say England are the greatest country the world have ever seen? 2 friendly matches against half rate teams? The fact they haven't won the world cup in 40 years! Watch France, Brazil, Italy, Nigeria and many more teams to see good National teams!!

Hahaha you're funny. I needed a good laugh. Funny Englishman, thinking England will actually make it pass the elite 16 and win the world cup. That's like saying USA will win the cup. I love my country but realisticly, it aint happin. My bet is for Germany, Brazil or Argentina.

Well I don't think any country with a captain who is an effeminate transvestite has ever won the world cup so on past form I think England's chances are pretty low. They have only won one trophy in over 100 years and that was a home match.

Im English, and very proud to be. I would love to see England win, and for that I keep my fingers crossed, As for the flags, why not fly our flag, tacky or not It shows were proud to be English. As for people saying England wont win......every under dog has Its day. Anything can happen in Football.

No, England won't win it, and no, you didn't save the world from the Nazis without help from the two superpowers you just happened to be allied with.

Well maybe, they truley have one of the greatest squads in the World Cup, they also have a great chance but so do the other 31 countries.
