Wow. Soooo many. I know that the North had a lot more land area, more men, more resources, etc. Just about everything needed to fight the war, the north an advantage.

North:
manufacturing
population size
money
homefront was generally safe


South:
support from England
fighting on interior lines
shorter lines of communication
knowledge of the terrain (since fighting on home turf)
better generals
population more familiar with guns and horses

Fighting on interior lines and shorter lines of communication are both military terms.

NORTH:
manpower
factories
navy (blockade)
railroads
attack(could plan where/when attack)
90% of US $

SOUTH:
better army officers/soldiers
europe's support
land
they were defending homes and family(incentive to soldiers)

Disadvantages:
North:
moving army
inexperiance

South:
less $
less people
no navy

south- umm they were exprienced fighters...they didnt really need a lot of time to train...more expreienced generals

north- railroads,factories,more people to become soldiers
