Can anyone suggest some good athletic shoes. I'm going to be doing some jogging and playing volleyball. Some people i've spoke to have sugget Nike shocks other's have suggested New Balance. What do you think?

New balance is definitely NOT one of the best brands. And no shoes are made completely in the US. You cannot choose a shoe by the brand, but if I had to suggest a brand I would say Brooks or Asics, as they make a lot of great shoes. And if I had to shy you away from any one shoe in the world it would be the Nike shocks. They are made for aesthetics and you will probably get injured if you run in them. What you are going to want to do is figure out what category of runner you are. You are either a supenator (run on outside of feet), neutral (straight down the line), or an overpronator (inside of feet). Most people are overpronators. You can't tell by yourself, you need to have someone watch you run. Based on this info you will either need a neutral shoe, a midstability shoe, or a motion control shoe. Most people use a midstability shoe. Go to a running store to get fit. If you are absolutely opposed to getting fit for a shoe then go buy the Brooks Adrenaline. This is the best selling running shoe in the country. It works for most people.

I like New Balance shoes, for one reason, they are one of the only companies I know of that still make shoes in the USA, you can email them for a list of Ameriacan made shoes. Also the removable insoles allow me to use custom orthotics with little problem. There also seems to be a wide range of widths available too.

New Balance, Adidas, NIke, Reebok... I love my New Balances and Adidas. They are more shock absorbant.

Shox definetly i run the 1600, 3200, and 3200 relay and i where those during practice... during compition i wear a pair of addidas ttrack flats but they are uncomforrtable and mostly used just because they r 4 competition....
