I went to camp for two summers. It was a "special" camp for diabetic kids in Wisconsin (I'm diabetic, of course). Did you have fun at camp? Why? Was it horrible? Why?

I went every year from the age of 8 until 18 or 19. My parents would take their vacation with the rest of the family durring this week. At first I felt slighted, but found that I needed a break from them in the summer.

I profoundly enjoyed camp. People didn't know all my faults there, I knew all the secret pathways around the camp, and grew emotionally every summer. I even went back as a counsellor for 2 or 3 years afterwards.

I've went to a Christian horse camp for the past three summers. Each and every time I went, I had a blast! I didn't want to leave. I made to so many friends. The counselors were great and easy to talk to. I learned a lot. It was great to escape the world for just one week. I wish I was still young enough to attend....

The only summer camp I went to was Y.M.C.A. camp and I loved it. We got picked up on a school bus and spent the day at the lake (9am to 5pm). We went swimming and canoeing every day. Every other friday we had a sleepover in the lodge. We'd sit around the campfire and tell ghost stories. ya, it was fun.

Yes, and I loved every one of them. I went to 4-H camp, church camps (several denominations), Girl Scout camp, horseback riding camp, and others. Sometimes I went to several different camps in one summer.

My parents helped me with expenses, although I had to come up with at least half of the actual cost of each camp. Often, I saved all year, just so I could go to more than one camp the next summer.

The great thing about camp is that there was no history preceding me, and I could learn to excel in some skill which I then took back home. I could reinvent myself. Camp really helped my self-esteem.

When I got old enough, I became a camp counselor.
