I'm small, and I don't get angry when fat women call me "stick" or twig, or what have we. Why is it so bad to say "fat"? I just don't understand.

Just how would your fat a$$ know I'm ugly? Is one of your fat rolls a crystal ball?

Ok, let me get this straight...Dee is just a general biznitch, and Crystal has the actual crystal ball. Ok, I got it now.

Wow! When compassion was handed out, you sure didn't get any!

People with a weight problem will get upset because:
1. they know about their weight and aren't happy
2. they don't want to be overweight but maybe due to health issues can't control it
3. the older you get, the harder it is to lose weight...especially if you are female
4. the comment is rude, obnoxious and cruel

Never judge someone until you have walked in their shoes. You might be a thin thing now but just wait...your day will come and then see how you feel when someone is callous enough to call you fat.

Maybe because being thin or a stick has been considered a good thing for many years. Look at the number of people starving themselves or suffering from other eating disorders to try and acheive your natural body type. People who are overweight have been continuously put down for years. Why would you feel the need to point out the obvious anyway? If something is obvious by definition it shouldn't need to be said. So maybe instead of worrying about other people's weight you should worry about your own intelligence!

anybody can see that person asking this question is intelligent, no doubt. I would ask the same question to my friends, because I am skinny like a stick myself. "pointing out the obvious" is not insult nor is it bad intention. On the inside fat people are just like skinny people. They have intelligence, beauty, strength and beliefs and good life and everything else; and fortunes. Understand if you agree with me, that the word fat just takes away the smile when it is heard by fat person. I cant explain why the fat people generally omit and deny that word in the mind. I cant explain. And I learnd to see special qualities and beauty about a fat person. Likewise most fat people feel the same way about very skinny people, I think.

you are being ridiculous by saying that you don't care when people call you stick or twig. Can you honestly read this question and think you are being reasonable???
Fat people know they are fat, they don't need to be told.
Everywhere you look, magazines, tv are skinny people. If a movie star gains 10 pounds, they are ridiculed.
Society has made us believe that fat is disgusting, that is why people get upset!!

What if you had a nose like a witch with a big ole wart on it and everywhere you went people pointed it out and laughed. Fat people know they are fat and they want to live their life like anybody else. Not all fat people are fat because of overeating, some have medical issues that they can't help. Anyways it's not polite to point and stare.

its because stating the obvious is stupid. Im sure when you were younger and people called you short you thought it was annoying. Its the same thing for bigger people.. and fat having an ugly connotation is in regard to what it is thought of in today's society. the word fat has ugly connotation and if you are that you hate it because its what ruins in some cases your life. children are mean, adults are meaner. no one wants to be the fat kid

their self-esteem is at stake, they know they are fat, and probably have been trying to fix it for ages, they don't need a twig to point out the obvious. However, there are the ones who are fat and don't do anything to fix it, now I'm not sure I would mind telling them.

That's a nice generalization for people stupid enough to believe it. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm fat, I sure as hell am not in denial about it, and I'm not sensitive about it for sh*t. If people want to judge me based on my obesity, I invite them to because that way I can see them for the kind of person that they really are.

I always ask the same question, especially since it is something they can either accept or change. Then I put myself in their place. I have scars from acne I had in high school that I'm self conscious about. It hurts my feelings when someone points them out, even when it is "obvious".
