You can get pregnant on any day of your cycle. Yes, some days you're less likely to get pregnant than others, but 1) women can only guess their ovulation date, it might vary month to month and 2) sperm can live inside your womb for 7 days...if you had sex unprotected sex thinking you were not ovulating that day, sperm could just chill there until the next egg is available.
So, if you don't want to risk getting pregnant, use some form of birth control.

sure no time is 100% safe against pregnancy but look:
right BEFORE youre period -- the egg has left your ovaries and is in your tubes (where they get fertilized), so if you have sex the week before your period -- it will be PERFECT TIMING for the sperm to meet the egg. sperm also stays alive for about 3 days...
but DURING and AFTER your period -- all the nutrients that were building up all month in preparation for the baby is gone and the unfertilized egg has also been bled out of your body. at this point .. MOST girls have not ovulated again yet, so even if sperm is in your body and stays alive for 3 days.. there is NO EGG in your tubes to BE FERTILIZED.
and even if it did get fertilized, your uterine walls dont have that nutrient build-up for the newly fertilized egg... so your body cant even support a baby.
bottom line: a week before period = MOST DANGER
during and a week after = AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE
goodluck .. btw.. no promises. condoms are the only way to REALLY be sure.

depending on your ovulation cycle, yes you can! if you dont want to get pregnant there is not 100% safe way to ensure that it wont happen without abstinence. You can use other methods of birth control, but taking chances about when you have your period and when you might be fertile is not a good thing.

Sure you can, you never know when you ovulate, you can ovulate several times in a month. What you do know is that starting from the day you got your period, you ovulated 14 days ago. Hope I was clear, but I suggest to use a more cientific method than this one.
