My kids need to run old games on windows 98 only. Currently they have and old and new computer, one for old games and one for new with different operating systems on each. I would like to cut it down to one computer.

Windows is picky about being the first installed OS on a drive, so persuading two versions of Windows to run together is not easy. Try:

1) Examining the compatibility settings in XP - it can offer to appear to be more like Windows 9x to certain programs

2) Running the games in DOSbox ( http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/ ) - if they need Win98 to get at DOS mode - though the default setup may emulate too slow a PC

3) HyperOS : http://www.hyperossystems.co.uk/

4) QEmu: http://qemu.org/ (maybe too technical for most users)

Your answer is yes! You can have two operating systems(or more) on your computer. but the important point here is the sequence of their installation . if you want to have a windsows 98 & a windows Xp you must first install windows 98 on your system. after the installation now insert windows xp CD and setup it too. But NOTICE that in windows xp installation in begging levels when installers asks from the kind of install you SHOULDN't choose "Upgrade". you must select "New Installation".
and also NOTICE that you should setup them in two different partiotions.like C for windows98 & D for windows Xp.

(for more help contact me through my email address)

good luck& have fun.

seperate partitions, one on the main partition and one on the other. the 98 game sill play on xp, you just have to set them up to run in compatibility mode for win 98,

I don't think you are able to. I suggest forgetting the games or getting another computer. They're pretty cheap now a days

I run dual hard drives. You can also partition your drive.
