Worked for us, why should'nt everyone else follow suit?

Totally disagree. First of all, a civil war is a sign of instability. Also, the amount of years it takes after a civil war for a nation to be a cohesive unit is astounding. The settling of a civil war without an outside influence is usually an impossibility. In the majority, one side of the war is stronger than the other; thus, the weaker side will seek outside help in an attempt to win the war (see the South and Great Britain in the US as an example). All in all, your question holds no validity.

Civil wars cannot of themselves cause stability. How many stable African nations that are going through a civil war are there? Outside influence will always occur because there is much to be gained or lost from people on the outside.

you mean one side HAS to defeat the other in order for there to be peace. I don't think so. Two opposing sides can come to a mutual agreement that is reached peacefully. It doesn't happen that way, but it certainly is possible.

Usually when there is civil war there are outside influences. Even the USA's own civil had outside influences. France namely came to the aid of the union (for the second time).

I totally disagree. The US was stable for many years before the Civil War occured.

How about an example of this happening?
