I do hope there would not be a "next World War". I honestly do not understand the concept of war between western states (quite different anyway) and a religion. It's like comparing apples and sausages.
Also, Islam itself does not seem to me a unified concept. Some people talk of Islam as of a peaceful religion. Others are talking about Jihad. How can you die for God, if you blow yourself up in the middle of a market place? How does this make you "dear to God"?
I do think, however, that the war will be over once the Arab countries run out of petrol and the world develops sources of energy alternative to petrol.

Nah, I doubt it. It is too simplistic just to say it is West v Islam. Especially when many Western states do not necessarily support the US/UK.

The fact that we have Nuclear Weapons prevents World War - or, at least war on a global scale. Local skirmishes such as India v Pakistan are possible. Most possible is isolated terrorist incidents. Such as Chechens, possibly Al'Quaiida.

You are talking about Islam fighting a world war. How can it? Islamic states such as Pakistan support the US. All it can do is fight a terrorist campaign. States like Iran might talk of war. But what can they do? Very little in practice.

9/11 was about a group of religious nutters getting together (having been armed and trained by the US) and committing an attrocity. All the US has to do is to get justice against those who committed it - not the vast majority of muslims who disagreed with it. There is no real evidence of Jihad.

No there's not gonna be a world war. America is gonna continue to use foreign policy to better it's economy. England Australia and Canada are going to jump whenever America tells them to, and the rest of the world is generally not going to stick up for themselves. It's not just the traditionally Islamic countries that are the target, Latin America has always been under the toe of the North Americans.
Anyway I shouldn't be so pessimistic. Things are changing although I think that Americas "allies" are going to desert them out of disgust before they wise up to themselves which is a bit of a shame.
