No, you dont have to call the police! Cops are stupid anyway and probably wouldnt be able to solve the crime, no matter how hard they tried! You remind me of Inspector Gadget with that hat on, he could solve ANYTHING! Hey, you may even be able to collect a reward! Good luck!

Many people are misled by the television shows about CSI stuff. A lot of things shown on the shows are not exactly right, but have been created to make the shows more interesting to viewers. So what you have seen may be just the basic stuff that can happen, but the rest of it is sensationalized to make it more interesting. Besides, if you witnessed the murder, then you would already know what happened and who did it. If you truly witnessed it, you SAW all the info. Plus you have no jurisdiction over arresting the murderer. Only cops could do that. You would most likely only mess up any evidence and screw up the cops and legal system from being able to convict the murderer.

You could make a citizens arrest, however without the weight of the judicial system to back you up do you really want to attempt to apprehend someone who has already exhibited a willingness to take a life. You probably would wind up just giving some overworked P.D. another murder to solve. CALL THE COPS!

I seriously hope that you are kidding. If not, contact the police, I don't think you can actually solve the case just by watching CSI. It's a good show and all, but I still don't think that you have enough knowledge to solve these types of problems.

yes since CSI is not really real life police work in most areas of the nation. In most areas you will have an elected cornorner who may not even have medical training, or be the undertaker.
You will have a police detective with 9 other active cases as the only investigator, ( not lead but only) you will have police who don't have crime scene tape in there car since they never really need it and has to wait for someone to run back to the station to get it.
And the most fancy investigation tool they have will be fingerprint powder ( in black only)

Yes, calling the cops is necessary! They probably have a lot more experience solving crimes than you do, no offense. Also, CSI is a TV SHOW, meaning it's NOT REAL.

Absolutely solve it yourself. You've got a leg up on those CSI guys...you actually saw it happen. So you know right where to look to find the assailant's pubic hairs to take back to the lab.

No, simply make a citizens arrest and then deliver the bad guy to the DA and he can prosecute. be sure to get the evidence you need. be careful as the bad guys that murder may also fight back and kill you. it is a dangerous job to be doing for free. good luck with that.

IF you ever really witness a murder, you should immediately call the police, unless you are the victim, in which case you will not be making phone calls to anyone.
