First off, I agree completely and secondly, yes ferrets have short digestive tracts, they are small animals. And if you take the time they can be trained to use a litter box and/or a paper. You just have to train them.
And then, bathing ferrets too much makes them smell more. Their bodies have glands that produce a musky smelling oil. Bathing strips them from these oils, making their skin dry and itchy in turn increasing the production of those oils. So they smell sooner and worse actually. It is way more important to change their bedding regularly, mine sleep in old t-shirts which are washable and I change them a few at a time several times a week. Also wash their hammocks and sleepy tubes. Keep their litter clean as well. I scoop mine at least twice daily and completely wash out the boxes once a week, same day I wipe down all surfaces in the cage. Weezil kisses and war dances make up for what little smell remains. Personally, I don't think they smell worse than a dog and not nearly as bad as a kitty litter box.

Ferrets, like other pets, need to be kept clean. They love to take baths and mine like to swim under the water. My ferrets get along with the dogs and cats and are always a joy to watch. Their personalities are very playful and I love to watch their antics. They are very good pets when trained correctly!

I have two ferrets, and a dog and a cat they get along really well. Sticking up for ferret owners, the ferrets only stink if you don't bathe them regularly. My kids absolutely love playing with our ferrets and we have never had either of them get aggressive towards anyone. Could never do without them.

I have 5 and unless you saw them you would not know they live in my home. A common misconception about the odor, ferrets do not stink, unless they are not taking care of. I bathe mine once a month, change their bedding every week, clean their cage at the same time and clean their litter boxes twice a day.

I am an animal lover, but honestly ferrets have short digestive systems and they will sh*t everywhere. I have owned them, I know. They are also very aggressive animals. Yes, they are nice to humans, but they drove my cats crazy. They would chase my kitties into a corner and weisel dance and bite at them. Very dominant animals. I find myself here, now, surrounded by my rats, and in Heaven I must be.

I have 4 wonderful fuzzies...they are the best...1 sable female, 1 silver male and 2 cinnamon males.Planning on attending the show in Illinois.

And they do not smell if you keep the cage cleaned on a daily basis, along with not bathing them too much.

They stink. They get into everything. They're absolutly crazy.

Several years ago a friend of mine had one. It slowly drove him insane. Finally he just lost it (his mind, not the ferret). He's been a resident at Happy Hills Sanitarium ever since.

Having a ferret could ruin your life. Why don't you get a cat?

Love both of mine! They play with our dog and are very very social with people. Ours have no odor. One 3 year old female and a male who is around 9 months.
