You need to take her to the doctor and find out if it is actually asthma. If it is you should have her doctor give you some information on the disease. For a minor attack coffee is a good remedy.

I suffer from asthma and it is a scary illness to have if you do not have the correct medication. she should go to the doctors and they will prescribe two inhalers, one which she will need to take every day to prevent her having attacks, the other one will be there for when she is feeling chesty. certain things can make asthma worse, such as dust and animals. if she has got pets she should avoid cuddling them up by her face. She can live a normal life with asthma as long as she makes sure she has always got her inhalers and she should make sure she never runs out. I know it seems scary but once she has got under control with medication, she wont even notice it.

My best advice is talk to her doctor. If she has been diagnosed with asthma, then an allergist or other such specialist should be able to help you.
There are many forms of asthma and based on what triggers her asthma, the information may change.
I have exercise induced asthma and only have attacks when I exert myself a great deal.
Talk to her doctor and ask him for information on her specific type of asthma and what you should know about it.
