The crack in the front bumper is about 2 inches long and the fender is bent forward a bit at the base of the car, but it is not rubbing the tire and it doesn't move that much. My parents are freaking out and they want me to get both parts replaced...the estimate was about $1400 dollars. I'm a minor and I dont have that kind of money....do you think it would be safe to drive under those condition for a while?

Make: Ford
Model: Focus
Year: 2000

Your car is 6 years old, this is the magic number for cars to start reaching the junk yards. You can find you color if you are patient and willing to hunt. If you have a friend that has taken a automotive class, see if he will help you replace the bad or damage parts. It's really not that hard. Since money is a factor you can go to a high-school or junior college and see if tone of their classes will do the repairs for you. Most will do the job you by the parts. My opinion is that the car is safe to drive but let's be careful. Your parents don't like the looks.

Good Luck

As a State Vehicle Inspector stand point. A bumper is NEEDED. If your bumper has at all "dropped" from it's original placement it does need to be repaired. If it is only a "crack" in the plastic then it is fine. The bumper is there for multiple reasons. Mainly to help protect you (air bag sensors). Believe driving down the road and if by pure freak accident something(your loose bumper) hits one of those sensor you will need more than $1400 replacement. By the way check with local salvage yards for a good bumper. Replacement is simple.

absolutely I sell cars and have seen just about everything from duct tape holding the entire car together to those twist ties that you use for your garbage to hold cars together. you just need to determine if anything that is loose be either removed or secured you don't want to be going down the highway and have something to come flying off and hurt someone if it is loose. but from what you are describing it doesn't sound that bad if the crack in the front is just that a crack and not a gaping hole then you are ok. the front bumper sounds worse like I said just make sure that everything is secure and you should be fine.

If it isn't causing the driving to be unsafe then i would say go ahead until you get the money to fix it. Parent's always freak out no matter what , you know that! lol. Just be careful and watch it to make sure it doesn't get worse where it is rubbing the tires or about to fall off. Be careful and Good Luck!

Find a used fender of the same color, and get someone to help you change it, its no big deal, the bumper, they make repair kits for that,

Fender and bumper absorb and distribute impact energy away from your fragile body in a collision - right circumstances in a crash could get you injured -fix it

Probably not, it just looks ghetto. I would start saving up money though and get it fixed so you don't look like a jacka$$.
