why is it that throughout american history black people have created the pop culture (music, style, fashion, lingo dance...etc..) in our society and were hated and banned at first for their creativity but when white people finally find out, they exploit it and try to copy and market it?

since the days of elvis (who, by the way stole his singing and dancing styles from poor, old black blues singers who created it and never got paid or respect)...and now elvis is considered the king of rock & roll.

now it's a hip hop world.

back in the 70's when hip hop started, white people were saying "turn off that disco". or that "ni**er" music...just like back in the 50's

now you get little white kids dressing, walking, dancing, and talking like so called "ni**ers.

....and even calling themselves "ni**er"

Blacks have made many important contributions throughout history in science, medicine, law, athletics, and many other fields. In other words, it's not just the music.

First we have to understand that the abolition of salvery, among other things, started a civil war between the north and the south. Many whites did not realized that black people were finnaly free. Even when they gain their liberty they where segregated. It was not been too long, maybe 30 years back, that black people where not allowed to be eat at the same place white people do. This racist action against the african american, created a non sense separation between the cultures, and the worth part, is that the white people where not paying attention to this rich culture. Elvis was not taking advantage of the situation, he just learned to apreciate the black culture, and he did enjoy it. He never knew that some thay he'll be called the king of rock and roll, wish he is not. Through the history, we know that there where many african americans doing a lot better than him and before him. Racism is been a long carried social desease. The rasist behavior separeted the unique opprtunty to blend and make everybody lives the american dream. in the 70' disco and Hip Hop, and in the 80's Rap, where considered black music. Eventualy, producer started to pay attention to the so called black music, because something diferent was needed. What we have today, white people acting like black people, is nothing more than the acceptance of the african american culture and a recognition to the apportations to the united States and the world. I believe that the US is experiencing, for the first time, a true cultural blending, where black and now the hispanic culture are showing theyre true colors. White people are starting to undesratnad that culture gets bigger when its blended. I believe that the america of the future will be open to more cultures. We can not see this as white, and black issues because thats the attitud that staterd the problem. Black people have a lot more to express in terms of music, art business, mathematics, etc. And the white people has new opportunities to better understand the african american culture adn get in touch with it. So we are in the middle of a long process. We should start looking at this as a new beginning and a recognition to the importance of african american culture. MArtin Lutter King make his part in the 60's. Now, the music composed by black people is opening new horizons to eliminate, for good, the racist conditions in the US.

That isn't entirely true. Some music was created by crackers and most by blacks, but white people did invent a lot of machines that help the world today. Without Asians, Whites, Black, etc. people there wouldn't be the world there is today. Life would not exist. Honestly I think that everyone is being very racist--every culture, sex, or color of the skin--did do something amazing that another culture, sex, or color could not do, or never would have accomplished. So message to all the people out there, "I'm fu*king better than you! Nothing is bigger than my ego, than my talent! So cut all the bull sh*t, move on with your life, and don't be a RACIST! I may have an ego, but do you see me being as racist as you?"
cheers and beers!

Every kind of (I guess what you are describing) would be called a "trend" has been copied from something else. Not just black people. Latin Music for example... (unless Latino's are black... in that case I must be color blind. Another example would be Country music... hullo?

There exists a unique connection between art and civil society in our American democracy. We are a nation of nations, deeply dependent upon the ability of our citizens to communicate across lines denoting difference -- difference in religion, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, language.

Since the late nineteenth century, American music has evolved as an expression of the social climate and environment of the times. Throughout its modern history, this expression has diverged into various styles attracting its disciples of music taste. Some expressions, like traditional jazz, Dixieland, big band swing, disco, and others stagnated, refusing to evolve, becoming footnotes and addendums of this rich history. Today, the adherents of this music reveal its beauties with anachronistic fervor. Some expressions, like jazz, the Blues, Latin, and others, continue to evolve into refined stages and altered states. Its music re-emerging with each generation in creative and unique combinations. But nowhere, to this point, has the message been more important than the medium that sends it. To this end, rap music has emerged with a style more concerned with the content of its message than the constructs of its art form.

You shouldn't make such an non-educated statement.

Noone could possibly answer such a stupid question. Why would you even ask such a thing? look at the responses it generates. I agree with the guy who would beat his kids for acting like that. And I am proud to be white,I don't try to be darker, because skin cancer is very unattractive. I don't dislike black people or people of any other color, or find them inferior in any way. Does a red car of the same exact specs drive any faster or differently than it's blue model? ah no. Skin color is simply color, when we all learn that-and forgive and forget eachother for our ignorance past and present, maybe we can move on to a brighter future.

The problem is that people don't know how to express their true selves. Kids act like other races, because they think people will accept them. It has nothing to do with color. Unfortunatly when you say that it is like saying that when a black family is respectacble and has a nice home and drives nice cars and works at a good job that they are trying to be white, Now that doesn't make any sense does it. People just need to be themselves and forget what everyone else thinks.

because black people do whatever we dont. we listen to good music, they try to make crappy music. every once in a while a white person will come along and be like, dude, you suck at what you are doing. so then they change it for the better to make it great, and set the market.

i am starting a movement to cut this crap out of society. dumb white kids with bad parents run around thinking its cool to be black. border jumpers everyday are taking decent, hard-working american's jobs because their lives suck and theyll work for 16 hours a day without a piss break. BS

It is not just african american culture. All non-anglo cultures in the United States are very greatly influenced by advertising, media, and pop-culture. I feel that it brings a sense of community to those who belong to those cultures. For instance, look at italian or chinese neighborhoods. Or even hispanic communities. It has to do with creating something different, to own something, and to leave your mark on society. I think it is great. It makes our society more diverse and broadens our scope of media.

Because time has change the views of older generations are not same as the new generation of kids that have grown listening to it, for instant if you move to another country you would probably not like the local music what's so ever but if you have kids your kids will develop a taste for it, as food and culture habits.
