If you are just worried about getting in trouble with the law I wouldn't worry too too much. As long as you have a clean record, show up to court on time and present yourself in a respectable manner (no shorts, jeans, sandals or t-shirts, all clothing neat and wrinkle free, pants pulled up to waist and worn with a belt- no undies showing; personal appearance-well groomed, neatly shaved) and are polite to the judge, etc- you should get it dismissed or a small ($50-100) fine.

By saying it was yours and that's that, why are you fighting what is obvious? You got caught doing something that you knew was wrong before you did it.

Unless you got caught with a huge amount or your a minor?
Then.. you are so screwed.
and you did it. to yourself.

PS be really glad you get to go to court not like some countries where yo are just thrown in jail or worse for having any drug.

Ok, you got caught by a "rent a cop" with weed.

I will assume he called the police, who came and either arrested or cited you for possession.

How did he catch you, did he search anything, or what.

What was the chain of evidence of the pot, was the pot actually tested in an approved drug lab, nor merely a street test kit ?

Don't smoke pot in the first place burnout. Since you got caught, take the punishment like a man.

Plead not guilty. File a motion to suppress evidence that was illegally obtained. Don't listen to public defender!

I'd go with saying that it was planted on you by an agitated coworker. Bring out people that don't like you for the defense...

Illegal search if he went through your things without you giving permission.

You mean you want to fight by saying he didn't have the right to bust you? He did. Talk to an attorney.

You can't. You got caught doing something illegal, and now you're being punished for it- that's how life works.
