Its safe but won't help prevent a middle ear infection. Middle ear infections occur on the other side of the tympanic membrane, and the peroxide woudn't reach that area.

The only way to try and prevent ear infections is to stay on schedule with vaccines and avoid cigarette smoke in the house. But if he gets more than 5 ear infections in a year, talk to your doctor about preventive antibiotics or a referral to an ear, nose, and throat specialist.

Middle ear infection can not be treated by dropping something in the ear. Consult with your Pediatrician on this matter.

the peroxide will not help with a middle ear infection - your child will need antibiotics. ear infections are very common in babies - especially when they are teething. if its chronic see your doctor about getting a refillable prescription.

Instead of peroxide, have you considered squirting a little of your milk into his ear? It is antibacterial and antiviral, and it is soothing. Everyone I know who has used it has found that it cures ear infections faster than antibiotics or anything else!!
