I just booked the time off about a month in advance. Since I only booked the days off for the post-group stages, my holidays were all over the place. They asked me about it and I said, "It's the World Cup. It only happens once every four years." There have been no complaints. I mean, we all get holidays, so I'm using mine for this.

I share your pain. Say "it's a religion". I still have to ask for the time off all over the place, especially hard without knowing when Brasil will play after the first phase.

Tell your boss that you have some important personal things that you need to do, ask to make up the time if you are willing to do that, it will appease your guilt.
