It most likely means that you are dehydrated, you should aim to drink 2 litres of fluids excluding alcohol, coffee and tea, a day.

Sometimes if you have eaten very strong tasting foods or drinks it can be smelt in your urine, just try drinking a few pints of cider mmm apples! The answer to this is the same as above drink loads and loads of water - its what your made out of!

Well it basically means that you haven't consumed the proper amount of water needed that day. You see the kidneys are responsible for filtering the blood and other bodily fluids to produce urine. One of the substances it filters is ammonia, which gives urine its acid smell and can even cause rashes if left on the skin. Because your urine wasn't diluted very well with water it has an ammonia smell. lol i like biology to much.

Dear Natemo

In answer to your medical question, the answer is that you are making too much acid in your urine.

Reduce the in-take of liquid's which contain's any form of acid in them and drink more liquid's which contain an alkaline substance.

This will then balance out the acid/alkaline level's contained within your urine and therefore neutralize your urine's acid strong odor.

I therefore trust that this answer's your medical question.

Sometimes taking vitamins or presriptions can cause your urine to have a stronger odor. Also, hormones can cause it to be strong(ex: when you are pregnant). Drink plenty of water and it will help.
