the edit and delete icon after you answer someone question, is it visible to other viewer s (or just me) or is that they way it operates.

It is only visible to you. So you are safe from having people not edit/touch your answer.

The edit and delete icons are only visible to you. They are there for your use only. That is why you can't see those icons in other peoples answers.

I don't see an edit or delete icon ? How come everyone else is allowed to edit and delete ?

No, you cant remove them, nor are they visible to other people. Whatever question that I have answered, I can edit, but I cannot edit another person's.

You can't get rid of them. It is not visible to other users. Everyone sees that under their own answers.

You're the only one that can see it. Everyone can see their own, but no one else's. No one can mess with your answers, so don't worry. Besides, they go away once the question is resolved or in voting.
