Fun? Doing what, typing on my keyboard? lol.. Seriously though? Yes I have dated via the internet. Never went further than it should have without meeting in person though, if you get my drift. I don't cyber.
But it's great, espec for someone like me. No time for dating losers, who just wanna go out with me b/c I am a Bitchin Gal or to ask me to pick up the check. In the use of a pre-date date, I totally recommend the internet. When you start to get into things a little too heavy though, watch out. It's like having a LongDistance relationship... And those are not for the faint of heart! Espec if one of you is NOT much of a typer lol..
In fact, my current B/F and I met online. Been dating what, 8 months now.... He's the best, and we are so well suited! (NOT Twins or anything, we just have common interests, ideals & goals etc)

And all because of that Dastardly MySpace lol...!

Yea I've had a couple before. The first one didn't work out he ended up cheating and then finally told me about it and well I never could trust him after that. And I am with this other guy now and well we've been together for about a year and things are as great as it was before. It really depends on the person I guess some people can do without being with someone in person and i guess some people just can't. Being in a online relationship you have to really trust the person. And yes I did have alot of fun! The only thing you can do is just take the chance and see how it works. Good luck.

I started out friends with a person on-line.
I was having a troubled marriage, was separated prior to knowing the on-line person and got back together with my hubby.
The on-line person was also having marriage problems eventually leading to a separation then divorce.
Near the same time I was having trouble with my hubby and we separated again (not getting back together) leading to a divorce shortly (I hope).
The on-line person and I agreed to meet as friends.
Was AWESOME, we met a few times, no pressure just friends with similar life problems. We got along perfect eventually leading to a relationship.
We have now been dating nearly a year and a half, love each other like crazy and became engaged not to long ago.
Did I also mention this is a long distance relationship? We live 5 hours apart, sucks at times but we make it work. We are hoping to get married next year.

Just my story ;)

Just choose Skate Rat Betty's answer. She said everything I wanted to say. People lie in person. They also lie on the Internet. They also cheat. Just use good judgment like you do in real life.

I do have to say, an on line "relationship" seemed really odd to me. "Are these people freaks?" "What kind of relationship is that?" "Would you actually be faithful to someone you only talk to on the Internet?" Duh, of course you would! Just like the old days of long distance telephone relationships. Even further back to snail mail relationships. SO, its the same thing; just a means of communicating. Keep at it. It will work if it is meant to AND you don't believe everything you read. Wish there weren't so many great answers already on this question.

some were just to pass time, some I thought might go somewhere but didn't. One I originally thought wouldn't go anywhere (because she lived in Brazil) did.... we got married. She didn't think anything would come of it either originally, so we both ended up being completely honest with each other (thinking there was no reason to sugar-coat the truth). That made married life much easier.

Yes! I chatted with the person for over year and a half before deciding to meet him, we exchanged cam face shots and lots of chat time. He's my best friend! I'm very happy to have met him.

I would suggest you keep it strictly plutonic, get to know as much as you can via chat first before you decide to meet, and when you do, take someone with you, even if they sit a few feet away.

Good Luck!

Yes, and we got married 3 years ago! :)) He lived 7,000 miles away from me. I'm in the UK and he was in Wy at the time. We got married just 8 months after we met face to face. We had been speaking on webcam for 11 months. It don't work for everyone granted... guess we just had a special something between us. He now lives here in the UK. :))

nope, b/c in the same way that I sit there and type all sorts of lies to glorify myself, so is some fat bastard pervert. I know not to believe anyone online, b/c just the same as I lie, so does the other person.
