chemical peels. Also known as Beta Hydroxy Acid (compare to AHA), salicylic acid is the key additive in many skin-care products for the treatment of acne, psoriasis, callouses, corns, keratosis pilaris and warts. It treats acne by causing skin cells to slough off more readily, preventing pores from clogging up. This effect on skin cells also makes salicylic acid an active ingredient in several shampoos meant to treat dandruff. Use of straight salicylic solution may cause hyperpigmentation on unpretreated skin for those with darker skin typesthe best thing! it's more abrasive than mederma or topical lotions. Due to its excellent capability to penetrate skin, glycolic acid finds applications in skin care products, most often as a chemical peel performed by a dermatologist in concentrations of 20%-80% or at-home kits in lower concentrations of 10%. It is used to improve the skin's appearance and texture. It may reduce wrinkles, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and improve many other skin conditions. Once applied, glycolic acid reacts with the upper layer of the epidermis, weakening the binding properties of the lipids that hold the dead skin cells together. This allows the outer skin to "dissolve" revealing the underlying, healthier, smoother, brighter-looking skinwhat happens is the Dr. or skin care provider of specialist applies a glycolic solution or salicylic liquid to your skin. it is left on for a minute or more depending on the number of treatments you need. if you need 4 treatments.. at the 4th treatment it will stay on for 4Min's. if you love to be in the sun, i would recommend waiting till winter to have a chemical peel. the down side is that it's a peel and it does exactly that. so you look like your shedding skin. the results are worth it. check with your local dermatologist with questions or prices.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

(s)he will be able to tell you if that is right for you.
