Are you guys serious? First of all what is the Stanley Cup? I am sure if you were to take a worldwide survey and ask, what is the Stanley Cup? I can assure you that 80 percent if not more will not know the answer. On the contrare, my dear football haters, the beautiful game is starting on Friday and nothing except God can stop its International broadcast. Come on which other sport in the world do you think Bosses and Managers actually let their employees go to watch a game and they themselves go home to watch these games....simply there is no other! I know during this month a lot of people are gonna call out sick and i can bet any amount of money im right.

NO. I am looking forward to the world cup very much. Yes, there is saturation TV coverage and yes TV schedules have been changed but if TV affects one so much, maybe this is an opportunity to use your time for some quality things rather than potentially becoming a couch potato. Although I am world cup crazy, I am not watching all the matches! There is quality time to be spent with the kids etc.
Long live the World Cup! and may the best team win!

But why do you dread it? Its the most played sport in the world bringing people from all walks of life and countries together in one game where we can express national pride without being accused of nationalist and rascist.
I understand that people dislike the sport and find it boring but have a little empathy cmon. You might dislike it but sorry the vast majority love it and you shouldn't just moan and groan because the media cater for what the majority wants rather than the minority.
Please just stop moaning and tolerate it stop ruining the enjoyment for the rest of us. Just ignore it if you dislike it but don't be surprised at why things have changed to fit it in cos the rest of the world would rather watch the match than the programme usually. World cups only come along every four years so stop moaning at how you hate it and saying how everyhting should go your way cos it won't whatever you say.
Football is the most popular sport on the planet you can't deny that fact so tolerate it and stop moaning.

I'm Canadian and even though the NBA finals are on, so are the Stanley Cup finals (we are very involved because it's the difference between the Cup being in Canada or the United States), most of my friends are active in catching up with the latest news about the FIFA World Cup. Sure, Canada isn't in it, neither are the countries of most of our ancestors (I happen to live in a culturally diverse community), but we're still supporting the countries we do because we have PASSION for other countries! =D It's good to be open-minded... Haha, sorry for the rant.

I guess on average its nice and probably fun to watch. After all it only comes to our tv sets every four years so to speak. I watch a few if I have nothing more important to do or if I have the time. But watching every game, til your eyes bulge and reddened from too much tube watching as some games are televised at odd times around the world due to the different time zones - is just being plain idiotic!
Everything we do in our lives...moderation is the way.Dont overdo it and get up late for either school, college or work. Dont lose precious sleep over it.
Its just not worth it.
But having said all that, nah..I dont dread it. If I dont like it...I just dont watch it !

You can't compare the Stanley Cup to the World Cup
They are WAY TOO DIFFERENt.
Stanley Cup is a championship awarded to a national league.. to clubs/teams not a nation/country..
So OBVIOUSLY The Stanley Cup isnt important to people in Africa cause they DONT HAVE A TEAM
Seriously.. Comparing the World Cup to STanley Cup is stupid.
But World Cup > Stanley cup 100%

I like watching the World Cup, but if you asked me whether I would rather watch a Stanley Cup final like last night (Carolina vs. Edmonton game 7) or the best game ever in the world cup I would still choose last nights game without hesitation. At least no-one is whining over a great hit and alittle blood. We make no bones its not a "Gentlemans" Sport.
Now that one is over I can enjoy the other. Regardless how few goals and dreadfully boring it can be. It still beats watching Nascar....Look there they go agian....and again....and again....
