All of those answers are right, but only understandable if you know something about medicine, which you probably don't if you are posting here.
Basicly, you have heard of the different kind of blood types, I assume (+/-). If the baby and the mother are both + or -, there is no problem. However, if they are opposites, then the mother's body can create anti-bodies that treat teh child's red blood cells (erythocytes) as intruders and destroy them, endangering the child.
It's not a huge issue now in civilized countries, as tests can be done to determine the child's Rh factor before birth, and there are drugs the mother can take to keep the antibodies from being created.

That's what causes it. If you have a negative Rh factor, then that is when problems can occur. If the father is positive and you are negative, there is a chance that the baby could have a positive Rh factor. That's when you have problems. If you have a positive Rh factor, then there is nothing to worry about.

a condition which develops in the foetus due to an incompatibility between the mothers blood type (rH factor) and the baby's. maternal antibodies, which enter the foetal circulation during delivery attack the baby's red blood cells leading to haemolysis (rupture of the cells).
symptoms include an infant with an enlarged liver and spleen, swelling, jaundice and anaemia.

Haemolytic disease of the newborn is said to occur when haemolysis of a neonate's red blood cells is caused by antibody from the mother. This condition only occurs where there is incompatibility between the maternal and foetal blood.
