yes you can. just as long as the other person has text capabilities. You need to ask that person if this feature is enabled on their cellphone. text messenging charges apply. you need to find out if you have this service to text someone. I have text messenging on my cell phone and I am entitled to about 500 texts messages.
Its a great feature. My son and I use it all the time.

Go to the website from which they have service with. There should be something on the home page that says send a text. You can go from there. It's very simple. There are a lot of ways you can text from the computer. You can send a text message from yahoo too.

Go to the company's website and see if they offer a text-message option on the page ... if you don't know the cell company of the phone you're trying to text, whitepages.com has a reverse lookup that will tell you.

certain phone companies have websites where you can text someones cell phone without using a phone..im not sure you not having yahoo messenger has anything to do with it?

yes if u know what company the phone is under to the that site....example sprint cingular or whatever.....they have a send a text in the sites and u can easily text the persons phone from there.
