Humming birds are very territorial. They fighting is all over the patch of land that contains their limited food sources of nectar feeders and flowers. Even males and females will fight over these limited resources. (I really enjoy those little guys, too.)

It may be because of seasonal changes in which they have not eaten or fed for a while, so they are pretty hungry and see competition. OR, it may be the fact that they don't see enough spaces to feed so they fight for them.
Then again, they may be practicing for wrestling...you decide.

The reason is simple, THEY DO NOT LIKE STUPUD AND EVIL
HUMANS. Got it ????????
They can and will be survivors of Nature. They know that it is Nature whic his their mother and father. Not evil Humans who have destroyed every resources and innocent animals in the world.
