A friend went out of her way to help me secure a position in summer school because she knows I rely on that extra income. How can I say thank you properly for what she has done for my children and myself.

U can buy a thank u card from the store:someplace like Walgreens. Then you could buy something that you love urself to give to her because then ur gift would be coming from the heart.

that depends how well both of u consider each other as a friend, sometimes a heartfelt thanks and warm words are the best returns, but in today's times well u could give her something she's been wanting a lot or inviting her over and cooking for her and basically having a good time together, and always u should try to be there for her/him just as he/she was for u.........

Some people may say that you should give her a material thing. But I think, In my opinion, that you should just be the bestest friend. Be there for her when she needs you, cheer her up when she's sad. Help her in doing things that you're good at. Those kin of stuff. :)

Invite her over for dinner one night, and thank her again for all the wonderful help that she has given you. And also say that if she ever needs any help in the future, to give you a call.

well just do something like a day out with her and your kids, something fun, and a small thank you card, letting her know you are very thankful. Oh yes, and be there for her when she needs something.

Just write your friend a handwritten note describing how you feel. You dont have to b an award winning writer...just describe your gratitude in a few words. It adds that personal touch...and people tend to keep handwritten stuff more carefully....atleast I do. ;-)
