I convinced my wife to take my name on the premise that our children would, without-a-doubt, be taking my name, and she would most likely want her kids to have the same last name.

adult men are no longer getting married because of the fact American women human beings are no extra loveable. a guy needs a spouse no longer a court appointed supervisor to take all your supplies and administration your freedom. the money value of a divorce in California is so super that girls human beings would extremely have the loose money than the accountability of marriage. in case you think approximately marriage as a enterprise partnership, it is the worst decision you will ever make. the female in many situations does not are available in with equivalent supplies, does not earn equivalent money, does not put in equivalent attempt interior the marriage, has an anchor toddler then is going to the biased liberal family contributors court to take 0.5 the guy's supplies. The criminal experts take the different 0.5. Now, in case you do no longer pay alimony and newborn assist you're a criminal. once you purchase a house, the financial business enterprise makes you purchase hearth insurance. the main suitable danger to domicile possession is getting married. in the previous you will ever evaluate getting married, purchase divorce insurance and make your new spouse pay for it!

The question is why would you want to keep your last name.... If your planning on being married to him for the rest of your life then take it. Otherwise you are setting him up to question you till you get divorced. He will think - 1.) is she just marrying me till someone better comes along. 2.) all of our friends did it why wont she. 3.) what reason does she have that she needs to keep her last name.
Also, remember when you get married you can change your middle name as well. Look at Hillary Clinton - everyone knows she is married to Bill and her new middle name is her maiden name ( Rodham).
Good luck in your decision

My wife took my last name. I felt she should so that it would announce to the world we are a team. Aslo, when we had children, there wouldn't be the questions they would have to deal with, such as "why does your mom have a different last name than you? aren't they married?" Then throw in any teasing. also did not want her to hyphenate either.

I just don't see any need for women to change their names in marriage. Marriage is a partnership. If the man doesn't change his name, why should the woman?

Yes, I do. I think it shows her commitment, trust, and faith. And it is tradition.
On the other hand, I could never insist. It is a gift from her. It would not be an argueable point.

I won't.And it's hard for me to understand why a girl will be glad to alter her family name when she get married.
But the very point for marriage is happiness, right?

I'd expect her to, I don't know how I'd feel if she didn't want to. It would seem odd, like breaking tradition for the sake of breaking tradition.

It would be up to her. I'm not really that possessive. I don't see what problems it could cause.
